JD Building

POSTED IN book September 13, 2011

JD Building and Refurbishment came to us in need of a new identity. The budget was restricted but they wanted to be repositioned within their marketplace. Builders have got a bad rep.. everyone knows it but how can we get past it and educate the consumer as to the genuine quality of workmanship that JD and the team employ. Imagery cannot be wholly responsible for people’s opinions but it does help.

We decided early on to use a simple palette of black and white as it was impactful while also offering style. We paired a traditional script font for the initials logomark and integrated it with the logotype which was presented in uppercase helvetica. It is not symmetrical which again sets it apart from most competitors but there was another reason for this as well. The logo was to be used in many locations with different information in many cases. The proposed set up allowed for interchangeable information to be used in the void below the words ‘building and refurbishment’ (see examples).

Needless to say the client is over the moon with it and has actually shown us the increased response they’ve received as a result of this small re-brand.
